Transgenderism: Ottawa rewrites reality to the detriment of women

News - Intro image

By discreetly redefining the words woman, man, and homosexual, Ottawa aligns itself with LGBTQ ideology. A move laden with consequences that denies biological reality and plunges Canada into a drift rejected by the majority.

On July 24, the Canadian Ministry of Justice quietly updated a series of documents on the state of the Canadian justice system.

Behind what might have seemed like a simple administrative revision, we actually uncover a political gesture with significant consequences: the official redefinition of the words woman, man, and homosexual to align them with the dogmas imposed by LGBTQ activists.

For example, a woman will now be defined as "all individuals who identify as women, whether they are cisgender or transgender."

A deliberate ideological shift

While the liberal government of Mark Carney had promised to turn the page on the militant ideology inherited from the Trudeau era, this change confirms exactly the opposite.

Not only is there no change in direction, but Canada is sinking even deeper into an ideological vision rejected by the majority of the population.

The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom ruled last April that the terms woman and sex refer to biological sex.

This same court clarified that defining women in this way does not exclude transgender people.

These individuals have rights, and defining a biological reality does not take away from transgender people, as they are protected in other ways against any discrimination directed at them.

Fighting against the erasure of women

In Australia, a first instance decision in the case Tickle vs Giggle will be heard in the fall of 2025. The underlying litigation is the same as in the UK, namely what the legal definition of the word 'woman' is, on which we will have to judge our laws and our rights.

The fact that the Canadian Department of Justice is developing a lexicon that assigns no value to the biological reality of sexes is cause for great concern. We believe that the Quebec population has a say in the matter.

This is far too important to be imposed by judges or bureaucrats, who openly claim an intersectional approach rather than a universal one.

When the law distorts words.

On the website of the Ministry of Justice, they take the time to explain how the concept of gender is variable over time, even in the life of an individual.

The law cannot be based on elements that can only be felt by the individuals concerned and that have no objective basis.

At the Réseau féministe québécois, we are concerned for women whose reality is outright denied.

If any person who claims to be a woman can be guaranteed the rights afforded to them, then these rights can no longer protect women.

The federal government may manipulate words, but it will never erase the truth: being a woman is an unsurpassable biological reality.

Historically, these rights have never been granted as a favor, but established to protect women.

Yes, we must document the realities of trans people, and we must protect this category of people. But this can be done by creating a new category rather than distorting the meaning of those that already exist.

We ask our politicians not to fall into an ideological reading that pushes for a complete redefinition of the language on which the law rests and to distort tangible realities in favor of a very militant small group.

We did not vote to be erased.

The federal government may manipulate words, but it will never erase the truth: being a woman is an unsurpassable biological reality.
